We aim to
The packaging industry, now and in the future, needs sustainable packaging and reliable relationships that contribute to making packaging solutions circular. As a leading producer of plastic packaging containers, we realise future-proof solutions for every packaging requirement of our clients and do so as innovatively and sustainably as possible.
Operating from two production sites in the Netherlands, we deliver sustainable packaging solutions for a wide range of applications. For this, we use innovative methods and high-quality 100% recyclable plastic raw materials. High involvement ensures that we know our customers and the chains in which they operate. We aim to achieve a committed collaboration with our clients in order to realise circular ambitions. You can read more about our circular ambitions on the Sustainable Dijkstra page.

Start of Bekkers and Dijkstra B.V.
In 1976, Rienk Dijkstra, who works for Stork Plastics Machinery in Hengelo, is approached by Jo Bekkers, co-founder and former owner of Beckers Snacks B.V., known for its deep-fried sausages. Together, they conceive the plan to start up a plant to make plastic packaging buckets for the food industry. Bekkers and Dijkstra BV is incorporated in May 1977.
Expansion of staff
After the typical start-up problems, the company grows rapidly and its first expansion is realised in 1980. Meanwhile, Mieke Dijkstra, Rienks’ wife, has taken up a permanent position within the company and thanks to her efforts and enthusiasm takes care of the administration, purchasing, sales and human resources.
Departure of Jo Bekkers
The company is growing steadily under the inspiring leadership of Rienk and Mieke Dijkstra and the time has come for Jo Bekkers to withdraw from the company. In 1987, Rienk Dijkstra becomes the full owner and the company name is changed to Dijkstra Plastics BV.
First printing machines
In order to print the buckets in-house as well, the first printing machines are purchased. The buckets no longer only find their way to the food industry, but more and more are now sold in the paint, decorative plaster and flower industries.
Growth to 20,000m2
By purchasing the adjacent building of Drukkerij Hassink (printers) in 1988 and converting it into offices, the growing number of employees are provided with professional accommodation as well. Not much later, the next “neighbour” is also purchased and the entire site now covers more than 20,000m2. The production hall and storage facilities are expanded many times over time.
Construction of a mould making plant
Meanwhile, the maintenance and new construction of the injection moulds are becoming more and more of an issue. In order to tackle this, a mould making plant is built at Tolstraat in Haaksbergen in 1999. With staff taken over from “Gemavo BV”, a mechanical engineering plant, and newly purchased metal-processing machines, the company’s own mould making department is a fact. All maintenance and new construction of the injection moulds are now done in-house.
Metamorphosis business premises
A major metamorphosis is started in 2008 with the aim of expanding production capacity, logistical optimisation and new construction of offices. Since the realisation of this project, the office building of Dijkstra Plastics B.V. has been the eye-catcher of ‘t Vark industrial estate in Haaksbergen.
Auke Dijkstra CEO
After having held a board position for many years, Auke Dijkstra, second generation, is appointed CEO of Dijkstra Plastics in 2015.
Takeover of HK Plastics
With the acquisition of its industry peer HK Plastics in 2016, Dijkstra Plastics strengthens its position on the European market. HK Plastics was founded by Eddy Haasewinkel from Oldenzaal. The company was taken over by Berdal Rubber & Plastics in Almelo in 2006 and moved to Twente Business Park in that same town in 2010.
Increase in production capacity
In 2018, production capacity in Almelo is expanded and the HK Plastics sales team is moved to Haaksbergen to form a single team in that location.
Launch of web shop
Dijkstra Plastics decides to further intensify its online presence through the launch of a web shop. More and more users want to be able to buy their products through a web shop as well. The web shop offers the possibility to order small amounts of buckets (a minimum of 10).
Integration of HK Plastics
Further integration of HK Plastics means that they continue under the name Dijkstra Plastics with a production location and office in Haaksbergen and a production location in Almelo.
Come and strengthen the Young Dijkstra team!
Since 2018, the ‘Young Dijkstra’ team has been the driving force for discussing subjects within the company that contribute to the company’s growth. In order to improve mutual cooperation and processes and to search together for the right balance between innovation and conservation, this group of young people forms a foundation for further growth.
